Vast Paver – A paver made from 75-95% trash
The Vast Paver is totally cool. A paver made from 75-95% recycled scrap tire rubber and plastics. Not sure how much it costs but definitely something to consider for a future patio. Saw it on Jetson Green.

I was looking for general standards on insulation guidelines for houses and stumbled on the Department of Energy’s website and a few others. I’m not sure if these are all best practices because I think when it comes to insulation more is merrier. TreeHugger put together a good page on green insulation picks… but like everything in life… be on the lookout for green washing. Not every product is the same shade of green.

Toxic and Non-Toxic Plywood and OSB
I’ve found this article on BuildingGreen.com useful for figuring out what type of plywood or OSB to buy for a healthier home. Don’t buy plywood of OSB with PF (Phenol-formaldehyde) biners. Buy exterior grade material with MDI (methyl diisocyanate) biners because they have less of an offgassing concern.
